A tour of Historic St. Mary's City can be a memorable experience for your group. A standard tour typically takes about four hours and includes stops at the Visitor Center and Exhibit Hall, all living history sites, and the Shop. Stay another hour and tour the St. John's Site Museum. Tours can be tailored to meet your group's needs. Group rates are also available for special events. Ask us about group tour lunches. A healthy amount of walking is necessary to see exhibit areas, so wear comfortable shoes!

Season

Historic St. Mary's City is open for scheduled group tours from mid-March through the last week in November. The exhibits are closed on Thanksgiving Day. Mid-June and September are great times to visit: school traffic on site is light and the weather is beautiful. Hot and humid weather in mid-summer is a factor to be considered in planning a comfortable visit.

Fees

Guided Tours of 15 or more

The group leader and bus driver receive complimentary passes to HSMC. A minimum of 15 people is required to reserve a guided tour.

Self-Guided Groups of 10 or more

A minimum of 10 people is required to receive self-guided tour rate. 

Food

An extensive buffet is available at the adjacent Student Center at St. Mary’s College of Maryland during much of the season. Gourmet dining is available at the neighboring Brome-Howard Inn. Groups may also order box lunches from local vendors and picnic on site.

All guided and self-guided tours must be reserved in advance.  To ensure receiving the date you wish, please book as early as possible by calling 240-895-4979 or e-mailing groups@stmaryscity.org.  Our staff is available to take your call Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Please have the following information ready when you make your reservation:
